Day 49, Wednesday, August 3

Today, Cliff and I went for a ride on the motorcycles. We headed over to Lake Tahoe for some pictures and for a ride around the lake. We also got in a swim at one of the beaches on the East shore of the lake. It’s amazing how incredibly clear the water of Lake Tahoe is. Swimming in it, I’d look down through the water and the bottom would look only *just* out of reach of my toes, but when I’d dive down to try to touch the bottom I’d find out it was more like 10 or 15 feet down. Awesome. Lake Tahoe is the 2nd deepest “blue water lake” in the United States. Basically that means that the water is so deep and clear that nothing but intense blue is reflected back out from the light hitting its surface. The pictures here don’t begin to do justice to how blue the water was.
