Day 2, Saturday, June 18

Today I just beat highway miles to get to Bever Creek, Ohio (just outside of Dayton) and my friend Joe Ruthenberg and his girlfriend, Dorenda (sp?...sorry). I hadn’t met Dorenda before and it was nice to finally be able to put a face to the name. I was beginning to think Dorenda was the name of an apparition which co-inhabited the house with Joe. I was a bit late (go figure) arriving at their house after spending the morning talking with Will (see yesterday’s entry) and some other campers. It seemed that every time I tried to call them to let them know I wasn’t going to be there on time, my cell phone had no service. I bet I pulled over in 8 or 10 different towns during the day trying to get a signal. When I arrived, they greeted me with a Porterhouse, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, and a nice cold brewski. NOW THAT’S SERVICE! Thanks Joe and Dorenda for hosting me.
