Day 156, Monday, November 7
It was damn cold waking up this morning. A guy from one of the RV’s here said his thermometer this morning read just above freezing but yesterday it was actually down to 28 degrees. Went to Grant Grove visitor center to see which hikes would be best for today and tomorrow. Unfortunately it turns out that the road into Kings Canyon closed for the season at noon today so I didn't get to see it. Decided to hike in Sequoia instead. Started at Big Tree museum saw a super fat bear half way to Morrow Rock and then also saw a Pine Marten. That was cool. Watched it hunt down and catch a chipmunk in a rotten log. Cool views from Bobcat look out. Saw a second bear on my hike back to the motorcycle. It was completely dark when I got back and starting to sprinkle. When I visisted with Burt and Jane, they took me out to dimsum chinese lunch from which we had significant left overs. Thank goodness for that, I had that for dinner and didn't have to cook in the cold temps. Cooking would have sucked because it was damn cold and started into a full-on rain just as I got back to the campsite.
