Day 13, Wednesday, June 29.

Tania and I spent the day today touring around the park again. After last night’s miserable camping experience, Tania decided that we were going to be spending the night tonight in a warm cabin, with beds and warm shower. Fine by me. Again the weather was spotty rain throughout the day but in all it was a better day of touring. At one scenic pullout Tania and I watched while a couple speaking a Germanic language pulled over for a picture. They first thing the guy did when he got out of his car was to throw down his half burnt cigarette on the ground. For some reason, while I’ve seen this time and time again from smokers, this time it really pissed me off since he was trashing up such an amazingly beautiful National Park. So I went up to him and pointed at the burning cigarette and said "NO!" He said something to the effect of "No speak English" and I pointed again vigorously at the smoking cigarette and said "NO!" and pointed around at the park. He showed he understood what I was talking about and went to pick up the cigarette. Know what that asshole did? He tore off the burning tobacco portion of the cigarette but it in his car ashtray and then threw the filter back on the ground. I didn’t realize this until after he and his lady drove away. Good thing too because I’m sure I’d have made a scene about it.
Later in the afternoon, while Tania and I were in the parking lot of the upper falls on the Yellowstone river, I struck up a conversation with another guy (Bob Gay) riding the same type of motorcycle as mine, just an older model. He and his wife were super nice and very interesting people and before we parted ways, they gave me their contact information in Las Vegas where they live and invited me to stay with them when my trip runs me through Nevada. On our way back to the cabin, we were treated to the most intense double rainbow I’ve ever seen. If you’ll look at the picture I’ve posted, you’ll see that you could see first, second, third, and even fourth order spectrums. Kind of like ROYGBIV with two or three echoes!
When we got to the cabin Tania decided she wanted a restaurant cooked meal while I, in order to conserve funds, decided to cook my own meal and get a bath. Turns out my decision was incredibly fortunate for me. Apparently immediately after I took my shower, the cabins started experiencing hot water problems and by the time Tania got back from dinner the water from both hot and cold pipes was freezing. Another night going to bed stinky for her! No fun. At least the cabin was nice and warm!
